The Celebrations Co-ordination Office (CCO) today (April 27) welcomed Ocean Park's special offer to the underprivileged in support of the Government's "Celebrations for All" project, which aims to proactively and directly facilitate the participation of under-privileged people in the celebration activities of the 10th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Ten thousand under-privileged families as well as more than 10,000 elderlies from various elderly centres will be able to visit Ocean Park under the project from July until November.
A spokesman for the CCO said the "Celebrations for All" project was a socially inclusive programme which represented government efforts to proactively engage different members of the community in the 10th anniversary celebrations and to share the joy of this important occasion of Hong Kong.
"We will work closely with Ocean Park to ensure that the special offer will benefit the targeted participants - 10,000 under-privileged households as well as more than 10,000 elderlies from various elderly centres," the spokesman said.
The Home Affairs Department, through the District Offices, will also work with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the districts to identify and organise the participants for visiting Ocean Park. Free transportation and meals for the participants will be arranged for the visit. The participants will also have the opportunity to see the two new giant pandas "Le Le" and "Ying Ying" during the visit.
The CCO looked forward to Ocean Park setting a good example of supporting the 10th anniversary celebrations for other commercial corporations and community organisations to follow.
"Through collaboration between the Government and various sectors of the community, the "Celebrations for All" project will help nurture mutual support and enhance social harmony in our community.
"We hope that such collaboration will continue to enrich the 10th anniversary celebrations programme with more initiatives and innovation to make the occasion a resounding success", the spokesman said.
The "Celebrations for All" project is supported by the Lotteries Fund.
