Visitor arrivals for Labour Day Golden Week

    In response to media enquiries on the visitor arrivals of the Labour Day Golden Week, a spokesman for the Tourism Commission today (May 4) gave the following reply:

     According to the provisional figures provided by the Immigration Department, the total number of visitor arrivals during the first six days (April 28 to May 3) was 576,752, up 19.8% compared with the same period last year.

     There were 355,681 Mainland visitors, (61.7% of the total arrivals) coming to Hong Kong during the first six days of the Golden Week, an increase of 24.5% as compared with the same period last year. Among them, 238,442 or 67% travelled under the Individual Visitor Scheme (IVS). The proportion during the same period last year was 58.2%.  Visitors travelling with a group tour entry permit accounted for about 5.9%.
