The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (January 18) successfully pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $55,000 for six employees who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
At the Tribunal's hearings today, two defendants, namely Good Faith Security Management Limited and Universal Investment Enterprises Limited trading as Apple Snooker Club, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $37,218.7 and $18,694 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Adjudicator further ordered the defendants to pay $150 and $125 respectively as the costs of the claims.
