The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (January 20) that all of its parks and playgrounds will remain open during the Lunar New Year holiday period (February 3 to 5). The Leisure Link Internet and telephone reservation services will also operate as usual throughout the holidays.
Sports centres, various fee-charging land-based facilities, swimming pools and water sports centres will be closed during the holidays. Services at gazetted beaches will be suspended. Hong Kong Stadium and all sports grounds will be closed unless advance bookings have been made.
Holiday camps will be closed during the holiday period and lodging will not be provided on Lunar New Year's Eve (February 2).
For public convenience, some sports centres, turf pitches, squash courts, tennis courts and the bowling greens at Island East Sports Centre, as well as Tuen Mun Recreation and Sports Centre will reopen on the third day of the Lunar New Year (February 5). Details are in the annex.
Leisure Link booking offices at various venues will not operate when the venues are closed. For venues scheduled to reopen on the third day of the Lunar New Year, their Leisure Link booking offices will also resume operation from the same day.
Details of opening arrangements for LCSD's recreation and sports venues during the Lunar New Year holidays have been posted at all venues and uploaded onto the department's website www.lcsd.gov.hk/en/lunar_new_year_open_hr.php.
