Students invited to enter flower show drawing competition (with photos)

     Primary and Secondary school students interested in joining the Student Drawing Competition of Hong Kong Flower Show 2011 are invited to enrol through their schools by February 2 (Wednesday). The competition will be held on March 11 (Friday) from 9am to 12 noon at Victoria Park.

     The competition is organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and sponsored by Human Enterprises Limited.

     The competition will feature students' impressive drawings of exquisite flowers and unique garden displays in the showground, with a view to enhancing their awareness of conserving plants and the natural environment.

     The theme of this year's drawing competition is "Symphony of Spring Flowers". Participants may draw or paint any floral exhibits or garden displays in the showground to illustrate the theme.

     The competition will be conducted in four categories: Junior Section in Primary School (Primary One to Primary Three); Senior Section in Primary School (Primary Four to Primary Six); Junior Section in Secondary School (Form One to Form Three); and Senior Section in Secondary School (Form Four to Form Seven).

     In addition to the champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up, 10 winners of "highly commended" and 15 winners of "certificate of merit" will be awarded in each category.

     The prospectus and entry forms can be downloaded from the LCSD website www.lcsd.gov.hk. Completed forms should be signed by the principal of the participating schools and sent to the "Chairman of Fringe Activities Sub-committee, Hong Kong Flower Show 2011" at 6/F, Kwun Chung Municipal Service Building, Bowring Street, Jordan, Kowloon or submitted by fax (2314 2205) on or before February 2 (Wednesday).

     Winning entries including the champion, 1st and 2nd runner-up and those highly commended, will be exhibited in the showground at Victoria Park from March 13 to 20. All winning entries will then be displayed at the Kowloon Park Arcade and also be available for viewing at the LCSD website www.lcsd.gov.hk in May 2011.
