Hong Kong Flower Show invites enrolment in photo competition (with photo)
************************************************************

Photography enthusiasts are invited to enter the "Symphony of Spring Flowers" photo competition held in conjunction with the annual spectacular Hong Kong Flower Show that will be held in March.

The competition is jointly organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) and sponsored by Shriro (H.K.) Ltd.

Featuring Primula as this year's theme flower and the theme "Symphony of Spring Flowers", the flower show will take place from March 11 to 20 at Victoria Park, from 9am to 9pm daily.

The competition aims to promote community greening with impressive photographs of flowers and plants on display; interesting or touching scenes captured at the showground; and portraits of TVB artistes and Miss Hong Kong 2010 titleholders with beautiful garden displays as a background.

The competition is divided into three categories. Category A, "Portrait of TVB Artistes and Miss Hong Kong", comprising Open and Student Sections, will hold its shooting session from 3.30pm to 4.30pm on March 10 at Victoria Park.

Entrants in Category A may enrol in person at any LCSD Leisure Link outlets between February 21 and March 9, or by calling 2927 8080 between February 21 and March 4. The maximum number of entrants is 1,000. Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Entry fees are $30 for adults and $15 for students, senior citizens aged 60 or above, and persons with disabilities.

It is not necessary to apply in advance for Category B, "Flowers", and Category C, "Snapshots". However, entrants are required to pay admission fees to enter the showground during the show period. Photographs must be related to this year's Hong Kong Flower Show and be taken at the showground during the show period.

All entries must be submitted by mail or in person by 6pm on April 12 to the Secretariat, Hong Kong Flower Show, 11/F, Leisure and Cultural Services Headquarters, 1-3 Pai Tau Street, Sha Tin.

In each category, there will be first, second and third prizes and a number of commendations. Results of the competition will be announced in June on the LCSD website at www.lcsd.gov.hk. Winners will be notified in writing for collection of prizes.

All winning entries will be put on display for one month at Kowloon Park Arcade in mid June. Photos of the winning entries will also be uploaded onto the LCSD website at the same time.

For details of the photo competition, please refer to the leaflets and entry forms available at the District Leisure Services Offices of the LCSD, or visit the LCSD website. For enquiries, please call 2601 8260.
