Competition Policy Advisory Group publishes 2010-2011 report
************************************************************

The Competition Policy Advisory Group (COMPAG) today (December 23) published its 2010-2011 Annual Report, which reviews the complaints received during the year and outlines the progress of investigation and follow-up actions taken.

"The report also provides an update on the legislative progress of the Competition Bill, including the amendments proposed by the Government to address concerns raised by the Legislative Council Bills Committee and the business community," a spokesman for the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau said.

The spokesman added that the proposed amendments would form a new basis for more focused discussion of the Competition Bill. "The Government is working closely with the Bills Committee on the scrutiny of the Competition Bill. We will strive for the enactment of the Bill within the 2011-12 legislative session."

Members of the public can access the annual report on the COMPAG website (www.compag.gov.hk).

COMPAG was established in December 1997 under the chairmanship of the Financial Secretary to co-ordinate the Government's efforts in promoting competition, to review competition issues that have substantial policy or systemic implications, and to give directions to bureaus and departments on such matters.
