Contractors fined for violation of safety rules

Fulam Construction Engineering Company Limited and China Bright Engineering Limited were fined $23,000 and $18,000 respectively at Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (October 22) for violation of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred in the Mid-levels on July 18 last year, in which a worker fell from a bamboo scaffold while renovating the building and subsequently died.
