In response to media enquiries on the Chief Executive's plan to arrange for Legislative Council (LegCo) Members to visit Guangdong, a spokesman for the Chief Executive's Office today (September 19) responded as follows:
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has always attached great importance to promoting communication between LegCo Members of different political groups and the Mainland. The Chief Executive has on a number of occasions expressed his willingness to act as a bridge to create opportunities for this purpose. He also hopes to make it a regular arrangement in future for LegCo Members to visit the Mainland. Therefore, the Chief Executive has proposed to Guangdong Province that a study tour to Guangdong for all LegCo Members be arranged after the LegCo resumes its sitting. He has also invited the LegCo President to consult LegCo Members on the proposal.
