The Commerce and Economic Development Bureau (CEDB) today (July 13) announced the establishment of the Advisory Group on Implementation of Fashion Initiatives (Fashion Advisory Group), and appointed Mr Victor Lo as its Chairman. Also appointed to the Fashion Advisory Group are 18 non-official members comprising representatives of fashion, design, clothing and textiles sectors and academic institutions. Representatives of the CEDB and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council are ex-officio members.

Members are appointed for a term of two years from July 15, 2015, to July 14, 2017.
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, said, "The Government attaches great importance to the development of the fashion industry. Promoting local fashion designers and brands and nurturing fashion design start-ups will be our priorities in the next few years. We look forward to working closely with the Fashion Advisory Group and the trade to establish Hong Kong as a regional fashion hub in Asia."
The Financial Secretary announced in the 2015-16 Budget that the Government agreed with the recommendations of the Economic Development Commission and would launch a series of measures on a pilot basis in the next three years to promote the development of the fashion industry. The Fashion Advisory Group is set up to advise on, guide and co-ordinate the implementation of the measures.
