The Home Affairs Bureau (HAB) and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE) today (January 12) urged the public to suspend use of one model of adaptor for safety reasons.
The product is marked with the CPCE's logo and its Chinese name. About 3,000 units of this model of adaptor were purchased by the CPCE in 2009 and distributed to the public for free a few years ago.
As it was confirmed with the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department that the adaptor with exposed live metal parts may pose the danger of electrical shock to users, the HAB and the CPCE urge the public to stop using that model of adaptor and are arranging a recall.
