The Secretary for the Civil Service, Miss Denise Yue, this morning (February 27) visited the Wong Tai Sin District to learn more about development in the area.

Accompanied by the District Officer (Wong Tai Sin), Mrs Teresa Wong, Miss Yue's first stop was the International Christian Quality Music Secondary and Primary School. By offering conventional and systematic music education, the school aims to nurture local musical talents and propel the development of music and arts in Hong Kong.

Appreciating the passion of quality music education in children, Miss Yue toured the amphitheatre, chapel, electronic music studio, recital hall, and music practice centre. She chatted with some students and enjoyed the piano and cello performance by students in the sophisticated Jehovahjireh Concert Hall.

Miss Yue's next stop was the Ho Chui District Community Centre for Senior Citizens where she visited handicraft arts, computer and elderly leisure activities classes. At a tea reception, Miss Yue chatted with some senior citizens and was pleased to learn they enjoyed a wide range of services offered there.

Later, she went to the Wong Tai Sin Temple, a landmark of the district which is well patronised by worshippers during the Lunar New Year period. She toured around Main Altar, Nine Dragon Wall Garden, Good Wish Garden and Fung Ming Hall. Miss Yue also visited the Po Chai Hall where free medical consultation was offered to local residents.

Miss Yue later toured the Creative Arts Bazaar, which aims at creating employment opportunities and promoting district characteristics.
