The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Shop 6, ground floor, Wan Hing Building, 65 Kin Yip Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (March 4) to March 17, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In July and November last year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business and failing to cover food properly at the said food premises.

"A total fine of $3,000 was levied and 15 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He added that there were also two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business regarding the same restaurant in December 2005 and March last year.

"A total fine of $1,500 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from July 9 to 15 last year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
