Regarding the condition of a 10 year-old-boy who was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital last night (March 4) due to fever symptoms, a hospital spokesman today (March 5) made the following announcement:
The test result of the boy was found negative to Influenza A-H5N1 by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). He is still hospitalised and his condition is stable.
The boy was transferred from Hong Kong Baptist Hospital last night (March 4) about 11 o'clock because of fever. He was hospitalised under isolation after clinical examination and lung x-ray investigation was done. The case had been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection.
