Employer ordered to pay MPF non-payment

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 7) pursued one claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $33,000 on behalf of an employee, who was owed MPF contributions by the employer.
The defendant, Pak Lee Touring Bus Limited, did not appear at today's hearing. In it absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $33,085.89, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employee's MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payment of $260 as cost in respect of the claim.
