The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a light refreshment restaurant in Yau Ma Tei to suspend business for 14 days after repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at ground floor, 4 Nanking Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (March 8) to March 21, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In November last year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business at the food premises.

"A total fine of $12,000 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He said the same restaurant also had two convictions in May and August last year for the same offence.

"A total fine of $7,500 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from November 13 to 19 last year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
