Commissioner of Correctional Services, Mr Kwok Leung-ming, today (March 10) officiated the 20th anniversary ceremony of the 221st Hong Kong (HK) Group, Scout Association of HK at the Correctional Services Department (CSD) Staff Training Institute.

Established on July 5, 1986, the 221st HK Group is the first step of scout movement in CSD institutions. It is hoped that through training and scout activities, young offenders are able to establish a correct view of life and become law-abiding and honest citizens after their re-integration into the society.

All group members are young male inmates from Lai King Training Centre and Cape Collinson Correctional Institution.

The group had organised various programmes like "Beating Retreat" and "Musical Rally". When taking part in scouting events between 1999 and 2006, the group was awarded "the distinguished group" and claimed titles in various scout competitions such as Scout Rally and scout foot drill competition.

Programmes for today's ceremony today included formation drill competition, inspection of scouts, combined scout band and Girl Guide band display, guard dogs demonstration show, scout artistic cycling, scout drum dance and staff abseiling demonstration.
