Electors urged to vote in Kam Ying by-election tomorrow
*******************************************************

Electors of the Sha Tin District Council Kam Ying Constituency have been urged to vote in the by-election in their constituency tomorrow (March 11).

Two polling stations - one at Ng Clan's Association Tai Pak Memorial School, Kam Ying Court, Ma On Shan, Sha Tin, and the other at FDBWA Mrs Fung Ping Shan Primary School, 2 On Shing Street, Ma On Shan, Sha Tin - will be open to electors from 7.30am to 10.30pm tomorrow.

Electors are assigned to a polling station in accordance with their registered residential address. A spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office today (March 10) called on electors to check their poll cards to see which polling station they should visit.

The four candidates contesting the by-election are: No 1, Wong Huk Kam; No 2, Wong Shun Loy; No 3, Chan Ming Hung; and No 4, Tong Po Chun.

"It will take just a few minutes for people to vote," the spokesman said.

"All electors need to do is to show their identity cards at the polling station, and use the chop provided to stamp the ballot paper with a tick in the circle opposite the name of the candidate of their choice before putting it into the ballot box," the spokesman said.

The spokesman warned that the polling stations were restricted areas accessible only to the electors and authorised people.

"Unauthorised people are strictly prohibited from using mobile phones, taking photographs, filming or making video or audio recordings in polling stations," he said.

An election hotline, 2891 1001, will be in service from 7am to 11pm on polling day to answer enquiries relating to electoral matters, including the location of the polling station that they should visit.

A complaints hotline, 2827 7251, will also operate from 7.30am to 10.30pm on the polling day to handle complaints about breaches of electoral rules and guidelines.

Once the poll is closed, the polling stations will be turned into counting stations, and people are welcome to watch the counting of votes.

The elected candidate will fill a vacant seat in the Sha Tin District Council.
