Suspected food poisoning case under investigation
*************************************************

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is investigating today (March 22) a case of suspected food poisoning involving a 67-year-old woman.

The woman developed abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea about 1.5 hours after consuming stewed gallbladder of grass carp at her home in Fanling in the evening of March 19 and was admitted to a public hospital the following day.  She is now in serious condition with renal and liver impairment. Investigation on the cause of her condition is on-going.

As there have been reports of poisoning after consumption in the literatures, the Centre for Food Safety advises the public not to consume gallbladders of carps.
