**********************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 23) obtained an order in the District Court against an employer for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $47,000.  Meanwhile, the MPFA pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $70,000 on behalf of two employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

The District Court today issued a judgment against Kingying Computer Label Limited. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA $47,813.6, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to two employees of the defendant.

At today's tribunal's hearing, the defendants, Kwok Ping Lam trading as Senior Cargo Co. and Bill's Food Factory Limited, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $45,695 and $30,639.69, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts both awarded at the District Court and the tribunal will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court and the tribunal respectively further awarded payments of $930 for the District Court case and $170 and $126 as the costs in respect of the tribunal's claims.
