    The result of the poll for the Chief Executive election today (March 25) is as follows:

                               votes obtained

     Mr Alan Leong Kah Kit            123
     Mr Donald Tsang Yam Kuen         649

     The Returning Officer for the election, Mr Justice Barnabas Fung Wah, declared under Section 28 of the Chief Executive Ordinance that Mr Donald Tsang Yam Kuen was elected as he had obtained more than half of the total number of valid votes cast.

     The notice of election result will be published in the Gazette shortly.
