The Government today (March 26) announced the appointment of Mr Joseph Lee Chung-tak as Chairman of the Commission on Youth for a two-year term starting from April 1, 2007.
A government spokesman said Mr Lee was a dedicated and eminent leader in the field of youth and community services. "Mr Lee established the Wofoo Foundation (a non-profit charitable fund) to provide financial funding to sponsor worthy projects, including youth development projects. With his long experience and dedication, the Commission on Youth will continue to provide valuable advice to the Government on the overall strategy and specific measures for promoting youth development in Hong Kong," the spokesman said.
The spokesman also extended the Government's gratitude to the outgoing Chairman, Dr Philemon Choi Yuen-wan, for his valuable contributions to the work of the commission. Dr Choi has served as Chairman of the commission since 2001.
"We have to thank Dr Choi, a veteran in youth development, for devoting so much of his precious time and efforts to the work of the commission in the last six years. Under his leadership, the commission organised the annual Youth Summit which provides a platform for young people to have direct and interactive exchanges with the Chief Executive and senior government officials on selected topics of concern to them.
