Tai Po Hospital Influenza A Cases

    The spokesperson of the Tai Po Hospital made the following announcement today (April 8):

     A member of staff and eight patients (aged 21-85) in a male psychiatric ward of the hospital have presented with symptoms of influenza-like illness since April 2. The staff member has recovered and resumed work. The patients are being treated under isolation in the Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital.  Appropriate tests have been arranged for the patients. Viral test results of three of the patients are positive to Influenza A while those of four other patients were negative. Test result of the remaining case is pending.

     Infection control measures have been enhanced in the ward concerned. There will be no new admission and visiting to the ward for the time being.  All patients in the ward are under close surveillance.

     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
