Programme change for Cloud Gate Dance Theatre show
**************************************************

Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan, led by internationally acclaimed choreographer Lin Hwai-min, will stage excerpts from three decades of masterpieces plus a new production, "White", at the Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre later this month (April).

Because of an injury to one of the main dancers, the excerpt from "Nine Songs" will be replaced by "Song of Cigarettes and Wine" (from "My Nostalgia, My Songs"). The work is a full-length piece depicting the dreams and frustrations of young people from a rural background experiencing the trials and tribulations of life in the city. This excerpt features a popular Taiwanese song from the early 50's that had been forgotten until it gained popularity again after its inclusion in this production.

Featuring "Song of Cigarettes and Wine"; "The Tale of the White Serpent" and excerpts from "The Dream of the Red Chamber"; "Moon Water" and "Legacy", the performance will be held at 8.15pm on Wednesday and Thursday, April 25 and 26.

On April 28 and 29 (Saturday and Sunday) at 8.15pm, Cloud Gate will perform "White", an abstract dance of pure aesthetics exploring the variations of the colour. Simple set installation and dancers in minimalist shades of white journey feature throughout this poetic trilogy: the first chapter whispers fog into the dreamscape; second chapter continues the transcendence with light shedding into darkness and ends with a metallic revelation of boundlessness.
