A special stamp issue with the theme of "Mainland Scenery Series No. 6: Shilin, Kunming" will be released on May 3, the Postmaster General, Mr Tam Wing-pong, announced today (April 12). Associated stamp products will also be on sale as from the same date.
This issue is the sixth in the Mainland Scenery series. Shilin was included in UNESCO's first list of Global Geoparks in 2004. The stamp sheetlet features towering pinnacles, the landmark of Shilin on the left and a wonderful vista of the stone landscape enriched with greenery on the right. The focus of the sheetlet falls on the $10 stamp in dark grey tone showing "Hanging-by-a-Thread", a rock hanging perilously high overhead.
Official First Day Covers at $1 each are now on sale at all post offices. The stamp sheetlet and the associated philatelic products are displayed at the General Post Office and Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin Central Post Offices. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from today to April 18.
