The Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr Joseph W P Wong, left Hong Kong this evening (April 15) for a two-day visit to Beijing.
While in Beijing, Mr Wong will attend the third meeting of the Mainland/Hong Kong Science and Technology Co-operation Committee at the Ministry of Science and Technology. He will meet officials from the Ministry of Information Industry and sign an agreement to enhance the co-operation and exchange in information industry and technology between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
Mr Wong will also call on the Ministry of Commerce to discuss with relevant officials business and trade issues of mutual concern.
Mr Wong will pay courtesy calls to the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the General Administration of Customs. He will meet representatives from the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China to exchange views on the operations of Hong Kong enterprises in the Mainland.
Accompanying Mr Wong are the Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology (Commerce and Industry), Miss Yvonne Choi; the Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Mr Timothy Tong; the Director-General of Telecommunications, Mr M H Au; and the Commissioner for Innovation and Technology, Mr Anthony Wong.
Mr Wong will return to Hong Kong on Tuesday (April 17).
