The Government intends to allow Castle Peak Power Company Limited to construct a materials handling berth of about 140 metres in length within an area of about 0.9 hectare of foreshore and sea-bed adjacent to the existing heavy load berth at Castle Peak Power Station in Tuen Mun.
For the safe berthing and manoeuvring of vessels, a further area of about 4.25 hectares of foreshore and sea-bed adjacent to the proposed materials handling berth will be dredged down to a level of about ―8.05 metres Chart Datum. The total area of foreshore and sea-bed affected is about 5.15 hectares.
The works are for the purpose of loading and unloading of materials for the operation of emission control facilities of Castle Peak Power Company Limited, which help to improve air quality in Hong Kong.
The works are scheduled to commence in the second half of 2007 and to be completed by the last quarter of 2008.
A notice describing the extent of area affected is published in the Government Gazette today (April 20).
Any person who has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea-bed involved can submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20th Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, on or before June 20, 2007.
The notice together with a related plan can be seen on notice boards posted near the site. The plan can also be seen at the Lands Department's Survey and Mapping Office, 23rd Floor, North Point Government Offices and Tuen Mun District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, 2nd Floor, Tuen Mun Government Offices, 1 Tuen Hi Road, Tuen Mun.
