Submarine cable between Tuen Mun and Airport Island

    The Government intends to allow CLP Power Hong Kong Limited to install a submarine cable circuit from Castle Peak, Tuen Mun to Chek Lap Kok Airport Island.

     The installation works which involve one 132kV submarine cable circuit with a length of about 6.2 kilometres are for the purpose of meeting the electricity load growth at the Hong Kong International Airport.

     The works will affect an area of about 89.6 hectares of foreshore and sea-bed in Urmston Road between Castle Peak in Tuen Mun and Chek Lap Kok Airport Island.

     The works are scheduled to commence in October and to be completed in April, 2008.

     A notice describing the extent of area affected is published in the Government Gazette today (April 20).  

     Any person who has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea-bed involved can submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20th Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, on or before June 20, 2007.  

     The notice together with a related plan can be seen on notice boards posted near the site.  The plan can also be seen at the Lands Department's Survey and Mapping Office, 23rd Floor, North Point Government Offices; Tuen Mun District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, 2nd Floor, Tuen Mun Government Offices, 1 Tuen Hi Road, Tuen Mun; Islands District Office, 20th Floor, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central and Tung Chung Sub-Office, Islands District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, 1st Floor, Tung Chung Post Office Building, 6 Mei Tung Street, Tung Chung.
