Immigration officers start Mainland study programme (with photo)

    A 20-member Immigration Department delegation today (April 22) starts an eight-day study programme on the Mainland.

     It is the fourth Mainland Study Programme at Beijing Gong An University and is co-ordinated by the Immigration Service Institute of Training and Development and the Beijing Office.

     The delegation is headed by Acting Assistant Principal Immigration Officer (Information Systems) Production, Mr Ng Ka-chung, and comprises one Chief Immigration Officer, six Senior Immigration Officers, six Immigration Officers, two Chief Immigration Assistants, three Senior Immigration Assistants and one Immigration Assistant.

     The officers will attend various lectures including the Management of Mainland residents travelling abroad, Management of Mainland residents travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau, Mainland Legal System, Police System and the organisational structure of Gong An, Criminal Psychology and Chinese Culture. The delegation will also visit Zunyi.

     Director of Immigration, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, met the officers before they left for the Mainland. He said the study programme would provide a good opportunity for the officers to broaden their horizons and help establish a firmer and closer working connection with their Mainland counterparts.

     The delegation will return to Hong Kong on April 29.
