The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (April 25) obtained two orders in the District Court for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $320,000 against two employers. The MPFA also pursued three claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $62,000 on behalf of 10 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

The District Court issued two judgments against two employers, Kwai Chuen Container Service Company Limited and Ng Chung Wo trading as Mondiale. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA $236,079.9 and $90,213.56, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 29 and three employees of the defendants respectively.

At the tribunal's hearing today, the defendants, Mile Universal Enterprise Limited, Noble Time Holdings Limited trading as Apple Snooker Club and Sunny Glass Works Limited, did not appear.  In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $38,212.40, $13,175.69 and $11,849.96, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts both awarded at the District Court and the tribunal will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court and the tribunal further ordered each of the respective defendants to pay costs of $930 for the District Court cases and $236, $166 and $96 for the tribunal cases.
