The Government today (April 27) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (C?te d’Ivoire) Regulation 2007, the United Nations Sanctions (C?te d’Ivoire) Regulation 2006 (Repeal) Regulation, and the United Nations Sanctions (Liberia) Regulation 2005 (Amendment) Regulation 2007.
"The United Nations Sanctions (C?te d’Ivoire) Regulation 2007 renews sanctions against C?te d’Ivoire imposed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution 1727," a government spokesman said.
The United Nations Sanctions (C?te d’Ivoire) Regulation 2007 renews sanctions against C?te d’Ivoire on supply of arms and related material; provision of advice, assistance and training related to military activities; importation of rough diamonds; financial sanctions and travel ban.
With enactment of the 2007 Regulation, the United Nations Sanctions (C?te d’Ivoire) Regulation 2006 (Cap. 537AA) is repealed on the same date.
The provisions in the 2007 Regulation will expire at midnight on October 31, 2007.
"The United Nations Sanctions (Liberia) Regulation 2005 (Amendment) Regulation 2007 implements sanctions imposed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution 1731," the spokesman said.
The United Nations Sanctions (Liberia) Regulation 2005 (Amendment) Regulation 2007 renews the sanctions against Liberia on the supplies of arms and related materials; provision of technical training or assistance; importation of rough diamonds and travel ban.
The provisions in the Amendment Regulation on importation of rough diamonds will expire at midnight on June 19, 2007. Other provisions will expire at midnight on December 19, 2007.
