Reconstruction and improvement works of Tuen Mun Road gazetted

    The Government published in the Gazette today (May 4) the proposed reconstruction and improvement works of Tuen Mun Road.

     The proposed works include widening of sections of the existing at-grade carriageways and vehicular bridges to current expressway standard; re-provision and modification of the existing footbridges; improvement of the merging / diverging arrangement; replacement of the existing road restraint system with new types of parapets and roadside barriers; and installation of cantilever/vertical noise barriers and semi-noise enclosures.

     The construction work is scheduled to start in early 2008 and will take about five years to complete.  These improvement works when completed will improve the overall operation of Tuen Mun Road.

     The plans and scheme are available for public inspection at the following places during office hours:

(i) Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Center, 99 Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong;

(ii) Tsuen Wan District Office, 1/F, Tsuen Wan Station Multi-Storey Carpark Building, 174-208 Castle Peak Road, Tsuen Wan;

(iii) Tuen Mun District Office, 2/F, Tuen Mun Government Offices, 1 Tuen Hi Road, Tuen Mun;

(iv) Yuen Long District Office, Yuen Long District Office Building, 269 Castle Peak Road, Yuen Long;

(v) District Lands Office, Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing, 10/F, Tsuen Wan Station Multi-Storey Carpark Building, 174-208 Castle Peak Road, Tsuen Wan; and

(vi) District Lands Office, Tuen Mun, 6/F, Tuen Mun Government Offices, 1 Tuen Hi Road, Tuen Mun.

     People who wish to object to the proposed works should write to the Secretary for the Environment, Transport and Works, 16/F, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, before July 3, 2007.
