Clarifications by Registration and Electoral Office
***************************************************

In response to media enquiries that the information about 18 donations (numbered 541 to 558) were omitted while 20 others (numbered 601 to 620) were repeated in the photocopy of the election expense return made and kept by the Registration and Electoral Office (REO), in respect of Mr Donald Tsang as a Chief Executive election candidate, a spokesman for the REO said today (May 9) that it had looked into the matter, and found that the election expense return submitted by Mr Tsang contained the full information of the donors concerned.

"The apparently missing and repetitive information in respect of certain donors as contained in the photocopy was due to a clerical mistake made by REO staff when making photocopies of the election return from the original source document," the spokesman said.

"We apologise for the clerical error, and for any inconvenience that may have been caused to people who had visited REO to inspect the election return," the spokesman said.

For those who have obtained a paid photocopy of the document, please call Miss Lo at 2572 3216 or Mr Chan at 2572 3378 to arrange for a replacement page (page 10) to be sent to them.
