A nifty solar-powered car named Sophie turned heads as it whizzed around the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia in July, as part of the Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2012. It took second prize for fuel efficiency, traversing 11.2km in 23 minutes - fuelled only by the sun's energy.
It is the brainchild of 20 Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education students and six tutors. A student participating in the project describes the reasons for its sleek, lightweight design while a lecturer explains how Sophie is helping to spark public awareness of a clean and renewable energy supply.
The story appears on news.gov.hk today (November 11) in both text and video format.
