Supply of day-old chicks from Mainland
**************************************
On June 5 this year, Hong Kong has confirmed that a sample of faecal droppings of live poultry taken earlier from a poultry stall was tested positive of the H7N9 avian influenza virus. In accordance with the established contingency plan, the Government has suspended live poultry trading (including local and Mainland live poultry and day-old chicks) for prevention and control of avian influenza. After conducting risk assessment, except the affected poultry stall and its neighbouring poultry stall, the Government has resumed the supply of live poultry in all retail outlets on June 9. The supply of day-old chicks from the Mainland would help maintain a stable supply of live chickens in Hong Kong.
