Acting SFH on Zika Virus Infection
**********************************
Reporter: Now there is a new Zika case in Hong Kong. Is the Government doing anything or extra measures with the Hospital Authority to prevent any escalation of the virus?
Acting Secretary for Food and Health: We have just had an imported Zika virus case. Because the testing of the blood and urine samples (of the concerned patient) has shown negative, based on clinical judgement, the patient was discharged last night. Obviously, even after the patient has been discharged, we will continue our medical surveillance in order to monitor the patient and her family members who went to the same place where this patient was on holiday. We will continue medical surveillance and if necessary, we will continue to have blood taking. On other measures, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department has been strengthening their mosquito control measures in all 18 districts as a routine measure. In particular, because the patient has been to Central and Western district, Wan Chai, Tseung Kwan O where she lives in, and Sai Kung, the department has strengthened the mosquito control measures in these areas too.
