Contractor fined for violation of safety legislation

Yui Ho Engineering Co Limited was fined $40,000 at Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts today (August 30) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on February 2, 2015, at a work site in Tuen Mun. While a cleaning worker was riding on a truck-mounted elevated work platform to carry out external cleaning work at a footbridge, the work platform suddenly tipped and leaned on a tree. He fell some 9 metres to his death after climbing out of the work platform.
