SED to join Dr Sun Yat-sen's Birthday student exchange activities in Shanghai

A total of 120 secondary school students and 12 teachers will join the student exchange programme to be held between October 19 and 22. With the theme of commemorating the 150th anniversary of Dr Sun Yat-sen's birthday, the programme will include visits, exchanges and discussion sessions in Nanjing and Shanghai through which the participants can better understand Dr Sun's life and related historical events, his contribution to history, as well as the study life of Mainland students.
In the morning of October 21, Mr Ng will visit Fudan University and meet its management. He will also accompany the Hong Kong students to take part in a series of visits and learning activities in the university, including a thematic talk by a history professor on Dr Sun's life.
In the afternoon, Mr Ng will meet and exchange views on education issues with leaders of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and visit an enterprise. In the evening, he will attend a gathering with members of Hong Kong people groups in Shanghai and listen to their sharing on Hong Kong students' learning outcomes after participation in internship programmes, and on the development opportunities for Hong Kong young people in Shanghai.
Officials accompanying Mr Ng on his visit to Shanghai will include the Deputy Secretary for Education, Dr Catherine K K Chan; Principal Assistant Secretary for Education (Further Education), Ms Pecvin Yong; and Administrative Assistant to the SED, Mr Edward Yu. They will return to Hong Kong next Saturday (October 22).
During Mr Ng's absence, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, will be the Acting SED.
