Transcript of remarks by FS at media session in Tehran (English only)

Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, at a media session in Tehran, Iran, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding on economic co-operation between Hong Kong and Iran with the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance of Iran, Dr Ali Tayyeb Nia, today (November 8, Tehran time):

Reporter: Would like to know about the main important areas that you discussed at the meeting with our Minister in Iran, and what was also the concept of this agreement that you have signed today?

Financial Secretary: I have been very excited with the vision and the enthusiasm of the Minister in fostering a much better trading, commerce, commercial relationship between Hong Kong and Iran. We have been in every way very complementary, in very different ways. Hong Kong being a service-oriented economy and Iran a resource-rich economy with plenty of high-quality workforce. This is something, this is a formula for success, and we look forward to working together. And with the signing of the memorandum of understanding, this forms a very good basis for us to take the matter forward. Thank you very much.
