Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

Lung Kee Transportation Engineering Limited and Yip Lee Construction Limited were fined $100,000 and $80,000 respectively at Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (December 6) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on May 9, 2016, on a construction site in Yuen Long. A worker was electrocuted while he was engaged in electrical installation removal work in a single-storey structure pending reconstruction.
