Proprietor fined for violation of safety legislation

Ground Support Engineering Limited was fined $46,000 at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts today (April 13) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred at a vehicle maintenance workshop in Chek Lap Kok on September 7, 2016. A worker while engaged in brake testing of a vehicle by means of a brake tester was trapped to death between the vehicle, which suddenly moved forward, and a forklift truck parked in the workshop.
