Proprietor fined for violation of safety legislation

PARKnSHOP (HK) Limited was fined $30,000 at Shatin Magistrates' Courts today (May 12) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on June 24, 2015, in Fo Tan. While a worker was operating a high lift order picker by riding on its operator's platform to handle a pallet of goods in a warehouse, the mast of the machine supporting the operator's platform suddenly broke apart and collapsed. As a result, the worker fell together with the operator's platform about 5 metres to the ground and subsequently passed away.
