Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected smuggled gold (with photo)

Customs officers yesterday intercepted an incoming private car at Lok Ma Chau Control Point for inspection and seized the batch of suspected smuggled gold inside the vehicle and from the driver. The 57-year-old male driver was arrested.
Investigation is ongoing.
Smuggling is a serious offence. Under the Import and Export Ordinance, any person found guilty of importing or exporting unmanifested cargo is liable to a maximum fine of $2 million and imprisonment for seven years.
