Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

     Penta-Ocean Construction Co Ltd and China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited were each fined $101,000 at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today (March 20) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on July 11, 2016 in Hung Hom. A worker fell about 3 metres into the sea through an opening of a metal platform at a construction site while working on the platform. He was admitted to hospital and passed away on the same day.
