Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected endangered species (with photo)

Customs officers yesterday intercepted an incoming lorry at Lok Ma Chau Control Point for inspection which was declared to contain assorted goods, and found the batch of suspected endangered species in the cargo compartment.
The case was handed over to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department for follow-up action.
Under the Protection of Endangered Species of Animals and Plants Ordinance, any person found guilty of importing or exporting endangered species without a licence is liable to a maximum fine of $5 million and imprisonment for two years.
