Employer fined for violation of safety legislation

     Saboo Fine Jewels (H.K.) was fined $61,000 at Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts today (June 11) for violation of the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on August 28, 2019, at an upper floor unit of a building in Tsim Sha Tsui. An office staff member, while attempting to put a folder into a ceiling cabinet by stepping on a work bench, fell to the street through an adjacent window opening and died.
