Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

     Wang Hong Construction Engineering Company Limited and Ying Wu Scaffolding Engineering Limited were each fined $95,000 at Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts today (September 9) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance, the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Protection of Eyes) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
      
     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on December 27, 2018, in Yau Tong. While a scaffolder was erecting a truss-out bamboo scaffold at the eight floor level of the external wall of a residential building, he fell to the first floor podium. He sustained severe bodily injuries and died on the same day.
