Contractor fined for violation of safety legislation

Luen Shing Decoration Engineering & Trading Co was fined $35,000 at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today (September 28) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on January 9, 2019, in Diamond Hill. A worker, while attempting to access a truss-out bamboo scaffold from another similar bamboo scaffold at the 26/F level of an external wall of a residential building for carrying out window sealant work, fell to a flat roof above the ground floor. He sustained multiple bodily injuries and died on the same day.
