DH's Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Clinic of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital and Chai Wan Government Dental Clinic to undergo disinfection tomorrow

     The Department of Health announced today (November 30) that its Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Clinic of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (OMS&DC PYNEH) learned that a patient who tested positive for COVID-19 had earlier visited the premises for treatment. As the OMS&DC PYNEH and Chai Wan Government Dental Clinic (CWGDC) share a common waiting area, based on public health considerations, both clinics will undergo a thorough cleaning and disinfection tomorrow (December 1). Service appointments at the OMS&DC will be suspended while the CWGDC will be closed. Affected clients will be contacted to reschedule their service appointments.

      The client visited the OMS&DC on November 26 and had a mask on while waiting for treatment. The client subsequently tested positive for the COVID-19 infection on November 28. The staff attending were wearing masks with suitable protective equipment. At present, no staff members have developed symptoms, nor are confirmed cases at either clinic.

     In view of the current epidemic situation, dental clinics have stepped up infection control measures, including temperature screening for all visitors before clinic entry and conducting a health declaration. Dental services have been strictly implementing various disease prevention measures during the epidemic, which include providing employees with masks and other protective equipment, and stepping up cleaning and sanitising measures of the clinics. All dental services' staff members are wearing masks at work and practising hand hygiene at all times. The DH is highly concerned about the COVID-19 situation and has reminded all staff again to maintain personal hygiene and be vigilant at all times.
