EPD refuses concrete batching plant's licence renewal application

The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) refused an application for renewal of a Specified Process Licence for a concrete batching plant (CBP) at No. 22 Tung Yuen Street, Yau Tong, on April 29, 2021, and had explained to the CBP concerned the reasons for refusing the license renewal application. The CBP concerned then appealed to the Appeal Board on May 18.

The department noted that the CBP concerned made comments in the media on the case through press release, interview and open letter. As the Appeal Board is currently handling this appeal, the EPD will not make any further comment or response on the case at this stage, so as to avoid affecting the conduct of the appeal. After seeking legal advice, the department has issued a letter to the CBP concerned, requesting it to stop making any further public comment on the appeal case.
